Catherine “Pat” Smith, 87, formerly of Falmouth and Dry Ridge, KY, died April 29, 2008 in Inverness, FL. She was a World War II Navy veteran and an entrepreneur of small businesses including the Carlsbad Nursing Home and the Falmouth Rest Home. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Falmouth and St. Williams Church in Williamstown, KY. Survivors include a son Randall Smith and daughter-in-law Kay Parsons Smith of Crystal River, FL, daughters Tricia Schild of Batesville, IN and Melanie Bingham of Cleveland, OH, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas W. Cahill and Catherine “Carrie” Melrose Kelly Cahill, sisters Melrose Jacobs of Falmouth and Jane Green of Cincinnati, and brothers J.W. “Bill” Cahill of Butler and J.F. “Pete” Cahill of Williamstown. Visitation will be held Saturday May 3 at 10:00 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Demossville, KY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to her memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. John’s Catholic Church cemetery preservation fund.
